The recommended grounding information for geared motors is mainly limited by our installation and operating range of measurement methods. It is not a comprehensive summary of many theoretical and practical aspects of grounding. Without additional information, the contents described in this manual cannot be used for other grounding applications. The corresponding instructions in our instrument manual for torque limiter of gear reducer motor should be used as supplementary contents of these grounding suggestions.

Check the ground and potential conditions of gear reducer motor: before connecting the cable to the device of our instrument, we must check the field grounding, potential and power conditions. If the critical potential difference is found during the inspection, the operator of the equipment must take appropriate measures in the sense of these grounding suggestions. Exception explosive areas: in or around explosive areas, grounding recommendations that may be inconsistent with these instructions or require additional measures may be required. In addition to these grounding recommendations for gearmotors, consideration should be given to the safety practices in our special manual for gearmotors, which is provided with all the information.

What is the meaning of gear motor torque limiter grounding? Generally speaking, the term "ground" refers to connecting the so-called "ground wire" to a conductive ground, which provides a reference potential. Ground wire is a conductive element with good electrical contact with the ground, and its connection point is often introduced from the outside of the ground. Bar steel, flat stirrup or steel plate can be used as ground wire. Why does gear motor need grounding? There are various purposes for the connection with ground potential: protection measures according to the effective VDE regulations (DIN VDE 0100) and low potential regulations (the differences between different countries should be distinguished); Prevent interference radiation and injection according to EMV regulations; To determine the general potential for the operation of electrical instruments and equipment as required; For other purposes, gearmotors may not be associated with these grounding recommendations. Power operated equipment generally includes one or more "bodies". According to DIN VDE 0100, "entity" is a contactable component, which is opposite to "live" component and can only have potential in case of fault. This kind of gear motor potential refers to the contact potential. In the case of indirect contact, the gear motor will produce dangerous current to human body. These commonly referred to as the "body" have cabinets, shells, contactor components, wiring boards, etc. The protection of torque limiter grounding can prevent contact potential. The protective grounding can be connected to the independent local protective ground wire through the protective conductor of the power supply or through the local protective conductor (underground cable). These measures have such an effect: in the case of failure of the gear motor protection equipment (over-voltage, error current and error voltage protection equipment), the operating elements are completely disconnected from the power supply, or the contact potential is reduced to an allowable level. The allowable level of contact potential of gear reduction motor is as follows:

1. Max. 50 V at AC voltage;

2. 120 V at DC voltage.

If the contact potential of gear motor is higher, it will produce a very dangerous current level, which will lead to human injury and even death! All insulated protective conductors must have green / yellow marks. The connection between gear motor and protective ground wire must be marked with "PE" (protective ground) or mark. The conductor shall be laid in the shortest path to the central grounding point, such as a point on the terminal block, which shall be marked with "PE". Because sometimes the protective conductor cable is laid for a long distance, its potential may not be the same as the local ground potential. Check the potential difference! The connection between the protective conductor of gear reducer motor and the ground shall be in good contact. Paint, dust, rust and any insulator should be removed carefully. Galvanized or stainless steel bolts and washers are recommended. If there is no independent functional ground wire, "PE" can be used as the reference potential of electronic components (digital ground wire and analog ground wire) and the connecting wire of cable shield. However, it is feasible to protect the conductor of torque limiter without interference.
