What is a reducer?

The reducer is generally used for the transmission equipment with low speed and high torque. The motor, internal combustion engine or other high-speed power is meshed with the large gear on the output shaft through the gear with less teeth on the input shaft of the reducer. The ordinary reducer also has several pairs of gears with the same principle to achieve the ideal deceleration effect. The ratio of the number of teeth of large and small gears is the transmission ratio.

Reducer is a relatively precise machine. The purpose of using it is to reduce the speed and increase the torque. From the high-speed power plant such as motor and internal combustion engine to the working end of the power plant, it needs a process of reducing speed and increasing torque. Reducer is the power transmission mechanism to realize this process.


Transmission ratio

The ratio of the number of teeth of large and small gears is the transmission ratio, also known as the speed ratio.

Speed ratio = motor output revolution ÷ reducer output revolution

1. know the motor power, speed ratio and service coefficient, and calculate the torque of reducer as follows: reducer torque = 9550 × Motor power ÷ motor power input revolutions × speed ratio × Service factor

2. know the torque and output speed of reducer and the service coefficient, and calculate the motor power required for the reducer as follows: motor power = torque ÷ 9550 × Motor power input revolutions ÷ speed ratio ÷ service coefficient

It has a wide range of types, different models, different types of different uses. There are many kinds of reducers, which can be divided into gear reducers, worm gear reducers and planetary gear reducers according to the transmission types; According to the different transmission stages, it can be divided into single stage and multi-stage reducer; According to the shape of the gear, it can be divided into cylindrical gear reducer, bevel gear reducer and conical cylindrical gear reducer; According to the transmission arrangement, it can be divided into expansion type, shunt type and coaxial reducer.
